Sincerely You is an anonymous letter-writing platform. We are committed to maintaining a safe environment for all users. This page outlines the safety measures we have in place to protect our community, with particular attention to the safety of minors.

Age Requirements

Sincerely You is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create accounts or use our services. If we become aware that a user is under 13, their account will be terminated immediately and all associated data will be deleted.

Content Moderation

All user-generated content (letters and replies) is subject to automated and manual moderation:

• Automated keyword filtering — content is scanned in real time for harmful phrases, hate speech, threats, and exploitation-related language. Flagged content is categorised by severity (critical, high, medium, low) and escalated for review.
• Grooming & predatory behaviour detection — our system detects patterns commonly associated with grooming, including requests for personal meetings, attempts to isolate users, and solicitation of images or personal details.
• Personal information blocking — phone numbers, email addresses, social media handles, and external links are automatically blocked from being shared, preventing users from moving conversations off-platform.
• Admin moderation queue — flagged content is reviewed by our moderation team. Administrators can approve, remove, or escalate content as needed.

User Safety Features

• Blocking — users can block other users at any time, preventing further communication.
• Reporting — users can report any content or behaviour that violates our standards. Reports are reviewed promptly by our moderation team.
• Anonymity protections — the platform is designed so that users cannot share identifying information. All content is anonymous by default.
• Account banning — users who violate our safety standards may be permanently banned from the platform.

Crisis Support

When our system detects language that may indicate a user is in crisis or at risk of self-harm, we automatically display a crisis support banner with contact details for professional help services, including:

Prohibited Content

The following content is strictly prohibited:

• Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any sexualisation of minors
• Encouragement of self-harm or suicide
• Threats of violence
• Hate speech, slurs, and discriminatory language
• Grooming or predatory behaviour
• Solicitation of personal information from other users
• Spam or commercially deceptive content

Enforcement

Violations of these standards are addressed based on severity. Actions may include content removal, temporary suspension, or permanent banning. In cases involving the safety of minors or illegal activity, we will cooperate with law enforcement authorities as required by applicable law.
